Priority 3: Lived Experiences
The Learn Sheffield Insights Hub is focussed on four priorities and areas of work that we are undertaking with our partners. Learn Sheffield will work with partners to develop better mechanisms to understand lived experience and improve equity.
Several recent and current Learn Sheffield projects link to this priority. Click on the tabs below to find out more about them:
SenseMaker
Learn Sheffield is working with The Cynefin Co. to trial new ways of collecting data about what it's like to grow up in Sheffield.
This work developed from our school ‘report card’ project where we were exploring ways of gathering a diverse range of stakeholder views on a school. In January 2024, we held a workshop with Professor Dave Snowden to explore the SenseMaker approach. This session is available to view here: Sensemaker Briefing January 2024.
Attunement
The Learn Sheffield Leadership Conference 2026 focused on creating inclusive educational environments where all children and young people feel safe, valued and able to thrive. A key theme across the keynotes and workshops was the importance of attunement, belonging and psychological safety in supporting healthy child development.
Following on from this conference, we are inviting you to capture examples of interactions that you feel are attuned or mis-attuned. These interactions could be child-child, adult-child, adult-adult.
Please follow the link to access the collector: Attuned Interactions
How it works
- Describe your attuned or mis-attuned interaction. This can be an interaction you observe or that you are part of.
- Answer some simple questions.
Why your contribution matters
Yours insights will allow us to collect examples of attuned and mi-attuned interactions across Sheffield. This will enable us to understand the conditions that lead to effective attunement and allow us to develop practice across Sheffield.
Each example captured should only take between 2 – 5 minutes.
