This is an important change, which widens the impact of training beyond just leaders, as it has been in previous years.

| Data Protection Essentials |

Course Information
The UK GDPR and 2018 Data Protection Act are now well understood, however the landscape is constantly evolving and changing, with new challenges and risks. Whilst serious data breaches are rare, the risks of a breach are ever present and new cyber threats mean that schools and settings need to maintain and improve our vigilance. The sector has seen an increase in Subject Access Requests and complaints involving data protection also seem to be on the rise, with the use of AI in framing SARs and complaints emerging as a common feature.
The Data Use & Access Act (2025) introduces some small but important changes to the law that require updates to both policy and practice
This session will cover the principles of the legislation and the practical steps that schools and academy trusts need to take to ensure not only compliance with the GDPR and DPA, but to build and sustain a strong data protection culture.
