Developing Healthy Attitudes

Safeguarding Resource/ Speaker/ Visitor Checker

It is recognised that providing opportunities for students to interact with people with lived experience of aspects of the RHSE is beneficial and often brings a realism to the content e.g.in areas such as gang culture, gun and knife crime, drug and alcohol use etc. Schools are bombarded by such offers of assistance and it is time consuming and onerous for school leaders to establish the quality, provenance, and safety of the programmes.

Learn Sheffield is working with recommended Designated Safeguarding Leads and providers of proven repute to compile a document for schools to risk assess lived experience speakers, workshop providers and resources in a more streamlined manner. We also aim to provide a repository for feedback on organisations to help inform the decisions of other schools and thus to establish a proven list of peer assessed recommended suppliers across South Yorkshire.
