These half-termly briefings provide for Sheffield leaders with regular updates from keynote speakers on topics of interest as well as other opportunities for schools. If you know of anything that may be relevant for our next briefing, let us know.
Leadership Events 2023/24
Leader Briefings
A half-termly Leader Briefing will be distributed to subscribing school leaders in Sheffield. This will continue to take the form of an online Sway so that school leaders can access the information when it is convenient for them and share easily with colleagues.
We have changed the focus of Leader Briefings for 2023/24 and they will now focus on providing local updates, rather than national keynote inputs. This change is alongside the growth in the number of in-person leadership events. This year's programme is below, and will include inputs from local partners (for example Public Health), updates from local projects and initiatives, inputs from the Learn Sheffield team and some of our key partners, including Huntington Research School.

Leadership Breakfasts
The 2023/24 offer includes new termly Leadership Breakfasts. These face-to-face roundtable events will focus on a theme chosen by leaders, and provide an opportunity to hear high-quality inputs and discuss the topic. They will also provide an opportunity to network with colleagues. The breakfasts will take place at Learn Sheffield (Albion House). The table below contains the provisional dates for these breakfasts and more information will follow shortly in relation to themes and speakers.

Public Health Priorities: Health Inequality, Vaping and the DPH Report
Greg Fell and the Sheffield PH Team Director of Public Health Greg Fell and his team will join us for this Leadership Breakfast at Learn Sheffield. Greg will follow up his input into the Leader Briefing earlier in the week, where he will share the headlines of his DPH Annual Report, and expand into a wider reflection about the ongoing impact of health inequalities in the city. The session will include discussion on the Covid pandemic and the ongoing impact on education. This will be an opportunity for Education and Public Health colleagues to share and discuss their priorities for the year ahead. The session will be chaired by Stephen Betts (Learn Sheffield CEO), who will also provide an update on the opportunities for Sheffield school leaders in 2023/24.

Civic Education Issues for Sheffield
Kate Joseph’s (Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council) and Meredith Dixon-Teasdale (Strategic Director of Children's Services) will speak on a number of civic education issues for Sheffield. The session will focus on the City Goals, SCC’s draft Council plan ‘Together we get things done’, strategic education partnership and the development of a Belonging Framework. |

Catherine Elliott, eLearning Consultant with Sheffield City Council, and Sue Finnigan, Education Consultant from Learn Sheffield will outline the current challenges and benefits for schools using generative AI tools, and why we need to teach young people about it. |
