This year our governance conference has a SEND theme with the title: ‘What is the role of governance in high quality outcomes for pupils with SEND?’. Key note speakers David Bartram and Maria Constantinou will join us on the morning of Saturday 20th June 2020 to explore these issues.

Each year Learn Sheffield organises a conference for all those invovled in school and academy governance. The purpose of the conference is to inspire and motivate governors to reflect on their own schools and the wider educational community. Each subscribing school will receive two tickets for this event as part of their subscription and have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets. The remaining tickets will cost £150 and will be available on general sale. Refreshments are included as part of the conference ticket.

 

Keynote Speakers

David Bartram OBEDavid Bartram, OBE
As a specialist SEND consultant, David has visited and worked with over three hundred schools working collaboratively with London Challenge, the National College and the Department for Education (DfE). He was Director for SEND at the London Leadership Strategy, advisor to the Mayor of London’s education team and currently provides support to a range of teaching school alliances and local authorities on the strategic development of SEND provision.

David is author of the SEND Review Guide, a national peer-review framework that has now been downloaded by over 4000 schools. He is also editor of Great Expectations, leading an effective SEND strategy in school.


Maria ConstantinouMaria Constantinou
Maria is a Headteacher and Inclusion Leader at St. Mary’s Primary School in East Barnet, Hertfordshire. Alongside her role at St. Mary’s, she has also been a programme lead and consultant for the London Leadership Strategy, a non-profit organisation led by outstanding head teachers across London. She has worked with head teachers and senior leaders on various programmes nationally, providing practical school to school support resulting in rapid change and school improvement. Much of this work has been through programmes to further develop practice and approaches to SEND. Maria has also worked in an advisory role for the Department of Education to reform National Professional Qualifications for School Leadership and Career Progression for Teachers, and is currently a panel member supporting the development of an evidence based SEND Guidance Report on behalf of the Education Endowment Foundation.
