Sheffield Governance Conference - 'Governance Stocktake'

A conference to take stock of the responsibilities, challenges and opportunities involved in education governance now and in the future. 

How can high quality governance ensure that every child recieves a world class education?

Keynote Speakers:

Mary Myatt- a highly respected education adviser, writer and trainer. She spends time in schools talking to pupils, teachers and leaders about learning, leadership and the curriculum. She maintains that there are no quick fixes and that great outcomes for pupils are not achieved through tick boxes. She is working with senior leaders on the link between educational values and high standards, and her book 'Hopeful Schools' and 'High Challenge, Low Threat' have inspired school leaders across the country. 

John Tomsett- John has been a teacher for 29 years and a Headteacher for 14. He is currently the Headteacher at Huntington School, York.  His school is one of the country’s first Research Schools and works closely with Sheffield.  John is a successful author and blogger and has to date published two books around a culture of great teaching and improving mental health in schools.  He is a regular contributor to the TES and also co-founded The Headteacher’s Roundtable think tank.
