Autumn Termly Governance Briefing

Tuesday 13 November 2018, 6.30-8.30pm

Sheffield Hallam University, Institute of Education, Charles Street

There will be an informal networking opportunity for governors with tea and coffee provided.  This will be held on the ground floor of the Institute for Education, from 5.45pm.

Termly briefings are an important opportunity for governors to keep up to date with key issues and to meet & hear the views of other governors across the city.  Each briefing includes invited guests, as well as an update from Learn Sheffield on developments that will be of interest to governors.

This term’s briefing includes a talk from Pam Smith of Sheffield City Council. Pam is responsible for the Virtual School for Looked After Children and she will speak about the current situation in the city and nationally, as well as highlighting the important responsibilities of schools and governors to improve the outcomes for this group of pupils.

Also, Laura Selby, from Sheffield-based charity Sheffield Young Carers, will speak about the role schools and governors can play in Identifying and Supporting Pupils with Caring Responsibilities.

Stephen Betts will provide a Learn Sheffield update, covering a range of current issues, including school outcomes for 2017/18.
